Description

Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: January 5 (Non-negotiable)
Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week


Required Credentials & Compliance for Onboarding

Licenses & Certifications

  • Nursys Verification: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start. Disciplinary actions require additional documentation.
  • License/Certificate Verification: Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS (AHA): Required and must be current.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.

Exams & Testing

  • Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Must be completed prior to start; minimum 80% score; only 2 attempts allowed; updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score; only 2 attempts allowed.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Must be completed with a passing score of at least 80%; only 2 attempts allowed; updated as per latest edition.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required prior to clearance.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start; updated annually for specialty.

Personal Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history required; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination required.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required at all times.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing prior to start; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • Positive PPD: Requires negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; includes testing for 12 specified substances; retesting required if break in service > 90 days.

Professional Requirements

  • Resume/Profile: Must be submitted prior to assignment.
  • Two Professional References: Required before first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; completed within 30 days of assignment and updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System): Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Education Verification: Relevant education verified within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days. Official transcripts required if verification fails.
  • Employment Verification: Past seven years verified; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates for extensions; must reflect accurate start/end dates.
  • Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, show front and back, and match address requirements.
  • Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations or filters.

Onboarding & Training

  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of 6 hours pre-hire training with attestation uploaded by agency.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader within a week.

Additional Notes

  • Flu season mask requirement applies if influenza vaccine is declined.
  • All exams and certifications have specific update and retake policies.
  • Breaks in service longer than 90 days require re-verification or retesting of several credentials.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs who meet the detailed credentialing and compliance requirements and are available to start on January 5 for a 13-week assignment in Nashville, TN.
