Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Florence, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
  • Location: Florence, South Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), includes holiday rotation
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to like units/sister facilities (agency staff floats first)
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Local Travelers: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year (preferably 2 years) with cardiac and neuro experience required
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • Additional Certifications: PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM may be required depending on unit; check with team for specifics
  • Chemo Certification: Not required for this location (Florence)

    • Sex Offender Registry
    • FACIS 3
    • International searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification not required for this facility
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Work history verification not required for this facility

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • TB Testing: 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start; if positive, chest X-ray required
  • Vaccinations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) positive titers or vaccines with boosters if low titer
    • Varicella positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low titer
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccine highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for patient-facing staff

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Must provide:
    • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
    • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
    • Complete employment application/resume
    • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
    • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Facility-specific documents to be completed prior to start, including:
    • Assignment Acknowledgment
    • Code of Conduct review
    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
    • Systems User Agreement
    • User Access Request
    • Job Description acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules (approx. 4 hours for Florence location) must be completed before orientation or traveler will be sent home
  • COVID and flu vaccination documentation must be uploaded into the facility’s platform prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Radiation badge required only for certain departments (OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Radiology); not required for this position
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
  • Candidates with any background hits, arrests, charges, or convictions are not eligible for temporary licensure walk-through process
  • All certifications must be valid and not expiring within 30 days of assignment start date

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses with cardiac and neuro skills who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities in an acute care setting.
