Job Opportunity: OR X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Setting: Outpatient OR (Rutledge Tower) with possible work in Main OR if volume is low
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • On-Call: Weekly call rotation, 3-4 days per month
  • Floating: May float within the same campus; no floating to sister facilities
  • Daily Caseload: Varies
  • Start Date: Approximately 2-3 weeks from offer
  • Radius Rule: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, at a reduced rate
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year OR experience required
    • Recent OR and C-arm experience mandatory
    • O-arm experience preferred
    • Trauma experience preferred but not required
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • ARRT (R) certification required
    • South Carolina state license must be active and in hand prior to start
    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required
    • Radiation badge required (must be supplied by agency; facility does NOT provide)

  • Parking: Paid only for nights and weekends; one-time $20 parking pass

Important Notes

  • Radiation Badge: Required for this role; agency must supply. Candidates cannot start without it.
  • State License: SC RN license required; temporary walk-through license option available for eligible candidates.
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time.
  • COVID-19: Vaccination not required but highly preferred. Vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded.
  • Orientation: Completion of facility-specific modules and first-day instructions required before starting.
  • Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start required; must be renewed annually.
  • Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks including criminal, employment, and education verifications required.
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start required.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Immunizations and titers (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B) required or documented declination
    • TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted
  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and OR competency exams.
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required before start.
