Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Facility: Hospital setting (Adult to Geriatrics patient population)


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Contract Length: 14 weeks
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Typical Diagnoses: ARDS, Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, DKA, Post-op complications, Cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, Liver failure, Drug overdose, ESRD on CRRT
  • Ratio / Census: 1:2-3 (may take a 3rd patient); 24 rooms with average daily census of 19
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling not guaranteed; every other weekend required; floating within facility required
  • Call Requirements: Not specified
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (up to two if three fall within contract)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Uniform: Navy blue scrubs
  • Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Orientation & Compliance

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 hours for 14-week assignment)
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval

Floating & Scheduling Notes

  • Floating within the facility is required
  • No travel pairs allowed, even if paired on different units

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including national and county criminal searches, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and education verification
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Flu Vaccine: Required or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color Blind Testing required; alternative assessment available if needed
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable units (Tele, ICU, ER, etc.) with up to 3 attempts allowed
  • General competency exam required for nursing staff

Additional Requirements

  • Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic adult to geriatric patient care environment with a variety of acute diagnoses, requiring strong clinical skills and flexibility in scheduling and floating. Compliance with all certifications, health screenings, and competency exams is mandatory for assignment start and continuation.
