Travel RN - Medical Surgical Float Pool

Location

• Facility: Large 600-bed teaching hospital
• Float pool supports 15 medical surgical units including specialties in neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, GU, hips and joints, oncology, liver and kidney transplant, and vascular.

Contract Length

• 4 weeks

Schedule & Shifts

• Rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights
• Every 4-week period includes one week with one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts
• Rotation within the same week possible but minimized, with days off between shift changes
• Every other weekend and holidays required
• No on-call required
• Combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts
• Schedule may be assigned 2 hours before shift start; no guaranteed set schedule
• Orientation held weekly (every Monday except holidays)

Workload & Patient Ratios

• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights

Responsibilities & Unit Procedures

• Administer nebulizers (ventilator management by RT)
• Perform 12-lead EKGs, manage lasix drips, blood transfusions, telemetry monitoring
• Assignments rotate among multiple medical surgical units

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license (MA license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 3 years related nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
• Level I trauma experience required
• CPR-AHA and ACLS-AHA certifications required
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• No local travelers accepted (must live more than 50 miles from facility)

Additional Information

• Contract guarantee: 72 hours biweekly (does not include on-call time)
• No separation from hospital system as traveler required
• Time off may not exceed 4 days during contract
• No blocked scheduling requests or specific days off week over week will be approved
• Any color scrubs allowed
• Parking available but can cost up to $43/day for day shifts; public transportation is an option
