Registered Nurse (RN) - Temp Position

Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide and manage patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team using the nursing process.
• Work on a tele tech monitoring unit with a 25-bed size.
• Patient ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients.
• Float across med-surg units including post-op, behavioral health (BH), emergency department (ED), and ICU.
• Manage drips including heparin, insulin, diuretic infusions, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline infusion.
• Required to work 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving).
• Limit of 1 day off request between 11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26 for all travelers regardless of holidays worked.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years experience in Med Surg, Med/Tele; post-op surgical experience strongly encouraged (EGD, colonoscopy, cardiac cath, pacemaker, minor surgery).
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the past 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• Experience with drips/titrates: heparin, insulin, diuretic infusions, amiodarone, diltiazem, 3% saline infusion.
• Comfortable and confident reading EKG/ECG including all telemetry-related duties (rhythm strips, dysrhythmia reads).
• EPIC EMR experience required.

Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)

Licensing

• Valid Iowa nursing license (Compact license allowed).

Additional Submission Requirements

• Updated work history/resume.
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
• Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80%.
• License verification and copies of required certifications.
• One supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the last 2 years.
• Proof of taxable address (one document required, e.g., driver’s license, utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement, insurance statement, voter registration, bank statement, auto insurance, or tax return).

Notes

• Minimum 50-mile radius rule; no local candidates within 50 miles.
• Night and holiday shifts with applicable multipliers and callbacks.
• Overtime billable after 40-48 hours/week depending on shift.
