Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Telemetry RN
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 (Experience with 1:4 ratio preferred)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: No
• Floating: Yes, within scope to like units or sister facilities

Experience & Licensing Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must hold a South Carolina RN license or a Multi-State/Compact RN license
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) as applicable based on unit
• Certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start date

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 304 staffed beds
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Parking: Free parking available with a pass distributed at badge pickup

Scheduling & Hours

• Open to block scheduling with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
• Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Local radius: 60 miles; locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 1 year, including multiple searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, national, FACIS)
• Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder
• NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
• Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to work without restrictions
• Respirator medical clearance required annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titers or vaccination series
  • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (strict deadline and documentation required)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Orientation & Onboarding

• Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules required before orientation
• Modules take approximately 2-6 hours depending on location
• Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
• Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start
• References: Minimum two clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
• Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps

Additional Notes

• Floating between units is expected within the scope of practice
• Facility may require a radiation badge for certain specialties (not required for Telemetry RN)
• Local candidates may be considered but at a reduced rate (not relevant for pay details here)
• All certifications and licenses must be verified and current before start
• Failure to complete required modules or documentation may result in delayed start or being sent home
