Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Telemetry RN
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 (Experience with 1:4 ratio preferred)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to like units or sister facilities
Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must hold a South Carolina RN license or a Multi-State/Compact RN license
- Epic electronic health record experience required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) as applicable based on unit
- Certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start date
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital with 304 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free parking available with a pass distributed at badge pickup
Scheduling & Hours
- Open to block scheduling with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local radius: 60 miles; locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 1 year, including multiple searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, national, FACIS)
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Respirator medical clearance required annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titers or vaccination series
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (strict deadline and documentation required)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
Orientation & Onboarding
- Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules required before orientation
- Modules take approximately 2-6 hours depending on location
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start
- References: Minimum two clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Additional Notes
- Floating between units is expected within the scope of practice
- Facility may require a radiation badge for certain specialties (not required for Telemetry RN)
- Local candidates may be considered but at a reduced rate (not relevant for pay details here)
- All certifications and licenses must be verified and current before start
- Failure to complete required modules or documentation may result in delayed start or being sent home
This position offers an opportunity to work in a well-established acute care hospital with a supportive environment and structured onboarding process. Candidates should be prepared to meet all licensing, certification, and health requirements prior to starting the assignment.
