Description

Travel RN Critical Care - Neuro ICU

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: RN Critical Care (Neuro ICU)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit Description

  • 19-bed Neurosurgical ICU
  • Patient population includes acute stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), seizures, and post-surgical patients
  • Care involves invasive intracranial pressure monitoring, frequent neurological assessments, hemodynamic monitoring, and routine CT, MRI, and Angiography
  • Patient assignment ratio: 2-3:1
  • May require floating to other ICUs or Step-down units
  • Position is a straight weekend night block (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights)
  • Neuro ICU experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Valid permanent RN license (no temporary licenses accepted) with primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Current Fit Test (completed within 1 year)
  • Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • MMR immunity with titers or booster protocol as specified
  • Varicella immunity with titers or booster protocol as specified
  • Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine (required October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption with UH-specific forms
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test within last 6 months (annual requirement)
  • Physical/Health Statement confirming ability to work without restrictions (completed within 1 year)

Background & Employment Verification

  • UHS Ohio Fingerprints (BCI&I check) and FCRA-compliant National Database Criminal Background Check
  • UHS Criminal Background Check (within 6 months) including Social Security Trace and County searches for last 7 years
  • UHS Education Verification (highest level of education verified through third party)
  • UHS Employment Verification (within last 5 years, third-party verified)
  • UHS OIG Search (within 6 months)
  • UHS SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC clearance (within 6 months)
  • UHS Social Security Trace (if not included in background check)
  • UHS NSO (if not included in background check)
  • UHS National Database Criminal Background Check (for Ohio residents)

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • UHS Competency Exam (department-specific, minimum 80% score, within 1 year)
  • UHS Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, minimum 80% score, within 1 year)
  • UHS Skills Checklist (clinical skill-specific, within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Drug Screen (10-panel, within 60 days of start, no instant tests)

Additional Requirements

  • UHS I-9 Attestation confirming eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • UHS Badge Photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background)
  • Submission Packet including resume, professional references (within last 2 years), job application, and UH Employment History Form
  • Non-expired Driver’s License or State ID (required for submission)
  • Completion of “Non Employee Required Safety and Compliance Training” modules prior to clearance (annual renewal)

Notes

  • Attestations are generally not accepted for licenses, education, employment, background checks, and competency exams; primary source verification or third-party verification is required.
  • Temporary licenses are not accepted; permanent RN license required.
  • Position requires weekend night shifts only.
  • Floating to other units may be required.
  • Compliance with all vaccination and health screening requirements is mandatory.
