Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)


Job Description

  • Position in Cardiac Cath Lab with possible extension
  • Work schedule: 5x8 and 4x10 shifts, varying between 7 AM - 7 PM
  • Rotating weekday, weekend, and holiday call (approx. 12 call days per month)
  • May be assigned to other cardiovascular departments: Electrophysiology, Cath, or Cath Holding
  • Perform minimally invasive cardiac procedures including full-service electrophysiology
  • 40 hours per week, typically 8 hours per day; some days may be longer but aim to stay within 40 hours
  • Overtime likely; no holiday time off approved due to call coverage requirements

Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
  • Current RCIS, RCVT, or RCES certification required
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program working toward Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry
  • Candidates with ARRT certification will not be considered
  • Facility will not consider candidates with any license or background issues

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of positive TB
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Required immunizations and titers within 10 years: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • TDAP vaccine required for certain units; preferred for others
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (or approved exemption with mask requirement)
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 professional references
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Primary source verification of state license
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication competency (80% minimum score, one attempt)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness test (100% passing score required)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, front facing, plain background)

Call & Shift Details

  • Rotating call schedule includes weekends and holidays
  • Call coverage is mandatory; no holiday time off approved
  • Shifts vary between 7 AM and 7 PM with a mix of 8- and 10-hour shifts

  • Fingerprinting and national criminal record checks required for certain roles
  • Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed timely
