Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Unit Details

• General med/surg unit caring mostly for geriatric patients
• Patient diagnoses vary daily
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Minimum Experience: 2 years (no first-time travelers accepted)

Work Expectations

• Must work major holidays if they fall during assignment:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
• If 1 holiday falls, work it; if 2 holidays fall, work both; if 3 holidays fall, work 2 of them
• Full compliance with onboarding required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to orientation schedule
• Locals accepted at same rate

Orientation & Compliance

• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
• Compliance with all required documentation and certifications is mandatory before start

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Certifications (as applicable to specialty and unit):

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for many specialties; check unit details
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required if working in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU, ER with pediatric patients
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required if applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Online course required within months of hire if applicable
  • State License verification (Georgia)
  • NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) annually within 30 days prior to start
• Competency exams required by Aya (not client) for:

  • Medication/Pharmacology
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG (3 attempts max)
  • Color Blind Testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • General Competency Exam for Nursing and Allied

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days of start, including:

  • County and national criminal searches
  • Sex offender registry
  • Education verification
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (Aya requirement)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable if needed)

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Two clinical references required (Aya baseline)
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)
• Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable working in a fast-paced med/surg environment with a geriatric patient population, who meet the certification and compliance requirements outlined above.
