Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Facility: Hospital setting with adult to geriatric patient population


Job Details

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit Bed Count: 34 beds, average daily census 27
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Work Schedule:
    • Every other weekend required
    • Floating within the facility required
    • No call requirements
    • Required to work major holidays depending on assignment length (see below)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Clinical & Work Environment

  • Common Patient Diagnoses:
    Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Small Bowel Obstruction, Pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, Sepsis, Hypertension, Hypo/Hyperglycemia, Prostatectomy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Ostomy creation/reversal, Exploratory Laparotomy, Bowel resections
  • Equipment Used:
    Nasogastric tubes (NGT), chest tubes, feeding tubes, wound vacs
  • Electronic Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment: expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall: expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall: expected to work two of them

Major Holidays Include:

  • New Year’s Eve and Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving and Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve and Day

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty and unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) - verify based on clinical track

Compliance & Screening

  • Full compliance with credentialing and onboarding required to start on time; delays may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Locals accepted at same rate

Orientation & Competency Requirements

  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
  • Competency exams required for nursing staff (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency, color blind testing, general competency exam)
  • Physical exam and health screenings required prior to start or within specified timeframes

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, no pending results allowed
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • TB testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start

Documentation & Verification

  • State nursing license verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)

Additional Notes

  • Floating within the facility is required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position offers a dynamic adult-geriatric patient care environment with a variety of acute diagnoses and procedures, requiring strong clinical skills and flexibility. Compliance with all credentialing, health, and competency requirements is mandatory for timely onboarding.
