Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Technician

Location: Evanston, Illinois
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, weekends required
• Assist with procedures and provide diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients
• Prepare and position patients; select anatomic and technical parameters accurately
• Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within scope of practice and regulations
• Observe patients during procedures and report abnormal activity
• Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as needed
• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines
• Perform specialized imaging procedures including angiography, complex vascular, nonvascular interventional, and therapeutic procedures
• Assist Radiologist/PA during procedures
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards

Required Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Cardiographic Tech credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) prior to hire or transfer
• Radiologic Technologist credential from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) prior to hire or transfer (any specialty accepted)
• Radiologic Technologist licensure issued by Illinois Emergency Management Agency combined with ARRT credential
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI) preferred

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalency with 1-2 years cumulative experience OR
• Associate's degree/Technical degree OR
• 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport required for onboarding
• Drug Screening: Minimum 10-panel test including THC, within 60 days of start
• Color-blind test (annual)
• COVID-19 Vaccine: 2 doses plus booster or declination completed
• MMR: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer showing immunity
• Annual Respirator Fit Test (must be completed prior to start for Illinois region)
• Hepatitis B vaccination (declinations not accepted at some locations)
• Influenza vaccine or declination (required October 1 – May 31)
• TB Test and Annual TB Questionnaire
• Varicella vaccination or titer showing immunity
• Tdap vaccination (declinations not accepted at some locations)
• Physical/Health Statement annually, must state clear to work
• National Criminal Background Check within one year of start date (with some state-specific exceptions)
• Social Security Card or Passport
• Badge photo (clear headshot, JPEG format)
• Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 or agency attestation)
• Completion of required exams: Core Competencies Exam and Specialty Exam (minimum 80% score)
• Prime Skills Checklist and other agency-specific attestations and documentation

• All activities must comply with regulatory agency standards and facility policies
• Education and onboarding attestations must be completed prior to clearance to start
• Some certifications and training can be completed through approved online platforms or resources
