Travel RN - Medical-Surgical (Telemetry) Float Pool

Location

• Facility: Large 600-bed teaching hospital
• Float pool supports 15 medical-surgical units including specialties in neurology, cardiac, bariatrics, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, GU, hips and joints, oncology, liver and kidney transplant, and vascular.

Contract Length

• 4 weeks

Start Date

• February 2nd only

Schedule & Shifts

• Rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights
• Every 4-week period includes one week with one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts
• Rotation within the same week possible but minimized with days off between shift changes
• Every other weekend and holidays required
• No on-call required
• Shift lengths: combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts
• Assignments may be given 2 hours before shift start
• No blocked scheduling or specific days off week-over-week allowed
• Time off during assignment may not exceed 4 days

Patient Ratios

• Approximately 4:1 on day shifts
• Approximately 6:1 on night shifts

Responsibilities

• Administer nebulizers (ventilator management by RT)
• Unit-specific procedures: 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, telemetry monitoring
• Support multiple specialty units as part of the medical-surgical float pool

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license required (MA license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 3 years related nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
• CPR-AHA and ACLS-AHA certifications required
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Orientation

• Weekly orientation every Monday (except holidays)

Additional Information

• Local candidates accepted; no separation from current hospital system required
• Travel RNs assigned to units for 2-3 week periods
• Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application
• Scrub color is flexible
• Parking costs up to $43/day for day shifts; public transportation available
