Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Provide medically prescribed physical therapy treatments for patients with injuries or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases.
• Focus on restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability.
• Educate patients and caregivers.
• Participate in discharge planning and complete all required documentation.
• Direct patient participation in tasks to restore and enhance performance.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Weekend work for Orthopedic cases only (Physical Therapist) every 4th or 5th weekend

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy experience (open to first-time travelers)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Licenses: Virginia Physical Therapist State License required
• Certifications: CPR required
• Preferred Experience:

  • Home Health experience preferred
  • Experience with MatrixCare or Epic preferred but not required
• Ability to handle 6 to 7 weighted visits per day

Compliance & Documentation

• Must have a clean license and background (no hits accepted)
• Proof of 2 professional references required
• Complete application/resume required
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
• Required immunizations and titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TDAP) with boosters or declinations as applicable
• Flu vaccination required annually or approved exemption with mask-wearing
• COVID vaccine preferred but not required

Background Checks & Screening

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• National criminal background fingerprinting required for Home Health and related specialties
• E-Verify and other federal screening requirements

Additional Notes

• Weekend coverage is limited and specific to orthopedic cases for PTs
• Outdoor and coastal location with access to recreational activities nearby

This position is ideal for a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, holding a valid Virginia PT license, and interested in a 13-week travel contract in a coastal Virginia setting. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel therapists.
