Job Opportunity: B3B PCU Nurse
Location: Chandler, Arizona
Unit: B3B - CHF Telemetry (30 beds)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in B3B / CHF Telemetry required (no exceptions)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
Key Skills and Responsibilities
- EKG monitoring and interpretation (RNs must read their own strips)
- Titration of drips including cardiac, heparin, Lasix, bumex, etc.
- Ability to work with telemetry and monitor techs (centralized telemetry system)
- Float to any telemetry floor, including sister facilities
- Charge nurse present but does not take patient assignments
- Work with nurse aides (PCTs) at a ratio of 1 per 15 patients
- Respiratory equipment used: Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP (for obstructive sleep apnea only)
Orientation and Testing
- Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts, no exceptions)
- Pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (failure results in dismissal for 6 months)
- Unit-specific orientation: 2 days on the floor
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm) with self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays depending on contract dates
- No regular on-call, standby depends on census fluctuations
- Floating required to other telemetry floors
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
Patient Population
- Common diagnoses: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), fluid overload, shortness of breath (SOB), arrhythmias, alcohol-related conditions (ETOH), general telemetry patients
Additional Notes
- Candidates may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity Health systems.
