Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Overview
- Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Work Setting: Main Operating Room (OR)
- Surgical Specialties: General, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal
- Required Experience: Circulating and Scrubbing in OR
- Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, 2 DaVinci XI Robots
- Room Setup: 16 rooms, average daily census of 35
- Scrub Color: Provided by facility
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Average 2-3 shifts per contract period
- Floating: Rare
- Call Requirements: 7-8 calls in a 6-week schedule plus 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (up to 2 if 3 fall within period)
- Major Holidays Include:
- New Year’s Eve and Day
- Spring Break (no RTO)
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve and Day
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, EFM, and others may be required depending on specialty (refer to clinical track guidelines)
- State License: Must be licensed in Georgia
- Education Verification: Degree verification required (can be pending with proof)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
Health & Background Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen accepted if needed
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties)
- General Competency Exam (required by agency)
Additional Notes
- Candidate will undergo clinical screening to determine fit before final manager approval
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills Checklist and Work History Verification required (can be pending with proof)
