Outpatient Physical Therapist - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Outpatient Physical Therapist)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: No
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Holiday Requirement: Possibly
  • Floating: Possibly required within scope to meet facility needs or float between like units/sister facilities
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 1 year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (First-time travelers NOT accepted)
  • License Required: South Carolina or Multi-State Compact Physical Therapist License at start of contract
  • Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Hospital-based outpatient rehab unit
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Free parking available
  • Scrub color: Pewter

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS: AHA or ARC only, must be valid beyond 30 days from start
  • ACLS: AHA or ARC only (as applicable)
  • PALS: AHA or ARC only (as applicable)
  • NRP: AHA/AAP only (as applicable)
  • Other Certifications: Check with facility for unit-specific requirements
  • Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start is mandatory
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County, State, National Criminal Checks
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • FACIS 3
    • International searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification generally not required for this facility
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start required
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • TB Testing:
    • 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start (T-spot not permitted)
    • If positive, proof of chest X-ray required
  • Vaccinations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19: Vaccines highly preferred but not required; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for patient-facing travelers

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams
  • Facility may require signed agreements and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, HIPAA Attestation)
  • Radiation badge required only for certain departments (not applicable for outpatient PT)
  • Travelers must complete all required documentation and training prior to orientation and start date

This position is suitable for experienced outpatient physical therapists with at least 1 year of experience and prior travel contract experience, holding the appropriate licensure and certifications, and able to comply with the facility's health, background, and training requirements.
