Operating Room Travel Nurse Opportunity

Job Details

Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Unit: Surgical Services OR RN
Unit Specialty: Orthopedics, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, OBGYN, Endoscopy
Facility Type: Critical Access
Beds/Rooms: 2 ORs, 1 procedure room, endoscopy room
Patient Age Range: 0-99 years
Patient Population: Diverse surgical cases including C-sections (required)
Nurse Patient Ratio: Circulate/Scrub as applicable
Scheduling:
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Rotating weekly and weekend call (minimum every other weekend)
- 20-minute call back
- Travelers must work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Day)
Floating: Not required
Documentation System: EPIC (experience within past 2 years required, non-negotiable)
Medication System: Pyxis
Respiratory and Anesthesia Support: Available 24/7
Ventilator Management: Managed by on-unit anesthesia

Requirements

Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 1 year
Prior Travel Experience: Required
Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required
Skills:
- Must have experience with C-sections
- Scrub experience highly preferred; strong circulator acceptable
Additional:
- IV starts to offer
- Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
- Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required for submission

Additional Information

No block schedules allowed
Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April

This position is ideal for an experienced OR nurse with prior travel experience who is comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties, including obstetrics, and who meets the certification and EPIC documentation requirements.
