Patient Population:

• Acute Coronary Syndrome
• Bipap/CPAP with compromised gas exchange
• Cardiac diagnoses requiring close monitoring
• Patients on minimally titrating inotropic/vasodilator/antiarrhythmic/anti-platelet drips
• Post PTCA/stent with arterial/venous sheath
• Drug toxicity requiring advanced monitoring
• ETOH withdrawal with airway compromise risk
• Thrombolytic therapy for ACS or vascular patency
• Major vascular surgery or leg bypass with comorbidities
• Hypotension/hemodynamic instability
• Insulin drip therapy
• Heart Failure
• Carotid surgery
• Electrical cardioversion
• Active rewarming for temperature regulation

Age Range: Adult

Requirements

• Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year clinical experience in specialty (Progressive Care/Telemetry)
• Certifications Required:

  • AHA BLS
  • AHA ACLS
  • NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start)
• Clinical Skills:

  • Insulin drips
  • Cardiac drips
  • Starting IVs
  • Post cardiac catheterization care
• EMR Experience: Epic experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
• Licensing: NY RN license or proof of application with applied date (NY licensing takes 6-8 weeks)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (preferred but not mandatory)

Work Environment & Scheduling

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 3:1
• Ancillary Staff Support: CNA/PCT available (3 per shift), Telemetry tech available
• Floating: Required; nurses will be part of the Resource Float team and float to appropriate units
• Charge Nurse: Not required
• Shift Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM (specific schedule to be posted)
• Weekend Requirements: Usually every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day/Eve)
• Call Requirements: None
• Orientation: 1-2 days
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; no block schedules allowed
• Transportation: Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended; public transportation not accessible
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed professional hair (no beard), no artificial nail polish

• Respiratory Support: Available 24/7
• Anesthesia Support: Not available 24/7
• Ventilator Management: Only home ventilators on unit
• Documentation System: Epic
• Medication System: MAK
• Unit-Specific Procedures:

  • Insulin drips
  • Cardiac drips
  • Starting IVs
  • Post cardiac catheterization care

Contract Length

• Contract Length: 16 weeks (approximately 4 months)

Additional Notes

• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
• Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required for submission
• Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
• Facility is not a teaching hospital and does not require teaching hospital experience

This position is ideal for a nurse with at least 1 year of telemetry or progressive care experience, current certifications, and recent Epic EMR experience, who is comfortable floating and working a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends.
