PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse) - Albuquerque, New Mexico
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
- Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
- Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Initiate, utilize, and document appropriate protocols and standards of care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians or standard protocols.
- Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care.
- Assume responsibility for clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required.
- Must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test prior to or during the first week of assignment. Failure to pass after two attempts results in contract cancellation.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit.
- Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
Certifications & Licensure
- Current State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).
- Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia Assessment (BCA) exam prior to or during the first week of assignment.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Epic EMR system preferred.
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience required: must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
