Job Opportunity: Pediatric Echo Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Pediatric Echocardiography)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Position Details

  • Role: Pediatric Echo Tech
  • Daily Caseload: 4-10 patients per tech
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
  • Shift Start Times: Between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM (staggered)
  • Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating Requirement: Yes, will float between hospital and North Charleston clinic

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

  • Licensure:
    • Registered Pediatric Sonographer (ARDMS) with PE certification OR
    • CCI with RCCS certification
    • Must have license/certification in hand at time of start
    • Pending state license accepted
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in scanning pediatric echocardiograms
    • Extensive knowledge of complex congenital heart defects
    • Experience with GE Vivid 95 and PACS system preferred
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS not required for pediatric units
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for pediatric units
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
  • Radiation Badge: NOT required for Pediatric Echo Techs at this facility

Work Environment & Additional Info

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Local Candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
  • Floating: Must be willing to work at multiple locations within the system

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year work/living history
    • SSN Trace, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, and others
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
  • Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
  • Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) required before starting
  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
    • COVID Vaccines: Not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Other:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
    • Annual TB Questionnaire required
