Job Opportunity: Inpatient Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per month
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: No floating between units or facilities
  • Facility Type: Hospital-based inpatient rehab unit
  • Total Staffed Beds: 28
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (First-time travelers NOT accepted)
  • License: South Carolina or Multi-State Compact Physical Therapist License required at contract start
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted
  • Local Radius: 60 miles

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only (check specific unit requirements)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – As required, AHA or ARC only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only (if applicable)
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit/job description

Note: Certifications expiring within 30 days of start date must be renewed prior to start or have a course scheduled.


Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • International background searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification preferred but not required for this facility
  • State-specific searches (South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers) for subcontractors

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records or declination form must be submitted
  • Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing travelers

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Facility-specific documents including:
    • Photo for badge (passport-style, frontal view)
    • Signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, system user agreement, user access request, job description, HIPAA confidentiality agreement
    • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start
    • COVID vaccination and flu vaccination documentation uploaded into facility system

Additional Notes

  • Radiation badge required only for certain departments (OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Radiology); not required for Ultrasound Techs or Mammography Techs
  • Facility does not accept local candidates within 60 miles
  • Block scheduling accommodation not applicable

This position is ideal for experienced physical therapists with prior travel contract experience who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and who are ready to work in a hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation setting in South Carolina.
