Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown/Med Surg Overflow)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Dates: January 26, February 9
  • Required Specialty Experience: 2 years (minimum)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have prior travel experience)
  • Shift: 36 or 48 hours; schedule may change during interview
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • On-Call: As needed
  • Weekend Requirement: As needed; weekend block may be considered but no block scheduling generally
  • Locals Accepted: No (100-mile radius rule applies)
  • Pending License: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
  • Special Requirements:
    • Level I Trauma experience required
    • Large hospital experience required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, required for all candidates
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Stepdown/Tele, ICU, and related units
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs except those at the Children's Hospital
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including statewide, county, federal, education verification, sex offender search, and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry (for TN facilities)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed)
  • Immunizations:
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
    • TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year of start (no exceptions)

Additional Requirements

  • Two recent professional references required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current (within 1 year) and updated annually
  • Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
  • Photo badge with strict guidelines required prior to start
  • All travel requests (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; no changes after offer

Notes

  • No submission to multiple job IDs/facilities allowed; candidates must select one
  • No acceptance of candidates with pending licenses or outside the 100-mile radius
  • Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with trauma and large hospital experience who have completed prior travel assignments and are seeking a 13-week travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center setting.
