Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery RN
Location: Silverdale, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for a travel contract in a busy multimodality Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery unit. The facility recently opened a brand new campus and is expanding services, creating the need for travel nurses.
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience
- Active WA nursing license or Compact license (Pending license submissions accepted; temp license takes ~4 weeks)
- Certifications required:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit Type: Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery
- Number of Bays: 22-23 total (16 beds + radial lounge + recovery lounge chairs)
- Average Cases per Day: ~30
- Common Cases:
- Left and right heart caths
- Complex PCI
- Electrophysiology
- Interventional radiology
- Peripheral vascular (hybrid or combined cases, e.g., AAA)
- EMR/Equipment: EPIC, PYXIS
- Charge Nurse: 1 Lead
- Staff RNs: 16 daily in various shifts
- Cardiologist on call: 24/7
- Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 with code support
- Pharmacy: 24/7 with code support
- IV Team: SWAT team available but not needed in unit; pre-op nurses and cath lab staff proficient in ultrasound IV starts
Shift & Call Details
- Recovery Unit Hours: Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM – 9:30 PM
- Common Shifts Needed:
- 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (additional negotiable shift)
- Call Requirement:
- 4-7 days per month by sign-up
- RN response time: 60 minutes required, 30 minutes preferred
- Call hours:
- Weekend day: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend night: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Weekday night: 9:30 PM – 5:00 AM
- Holidays: On call only, otherwise off
- Floating: Not unless emergency response
Orientation & Attire
- Floor-specific orientation: Less than 1 week if competent
- Scrub color: Hospital-issued surgical attire
Additional Notes
- No ventilator management required
- Telemetry: Centrally monitored in pre/post op
- The team is welcoming to travelers
- This is a travel contract due to expansion, not staff resignations
