Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday, weekends off
- Call required
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system
- Strong orthopedic background required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years inpatient OR experience
- Circulating and scrubbing experience required
Licenses & Certifications Required
- California RN License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) - must be AHA certified, original card required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA certification required (no placeholders)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
Preferred Certifications
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years inpatient or OR experience (use higher if discrepancy found)
- Strong orthopedic background essential
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Compliance & Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
- Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
- Negative TB tests (2 required, with specific timing and documentation)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titers or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines, history of disease not accepted)
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster requirements or approved exemptions
Testing & Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required with passing score of 80% or higher
- Unit-specific competency exams required annually
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and EKG medication tests required for certain units
- Core training modules (Parts I, II, III) with passing scores required annually
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Two supervisory references required (most recent or second most recent employment)
- Updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Photo for badge must be submitted by Monday prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, COVID-19 preparedness, parking and uniform info, and cyber security training
- Annual TB questionnaire required within 30 days of start
- COVID-19 related questionnaires and exemption forms as applicable
Additional Notes
- Scrubs provided for certain units; others must follow facility-specific scrub color guidelines
- Uniform vendor will contact traveler for optional branded scrubs purchase
- Orientation includes pass/fail exams; multiple attempts allowed with consequences for failure
- Fit testing onsite available as last resort with appointment scheduling required
This position requires a highly qualified Registered Nurse with strong orthopedic and inpatient or OR experience, appropriate certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background requirements.
