Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Patient Population

  • Adolescents to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Work Setting & Skills

  • Mixed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Intermediate patients
  • Small neuro patient population
  • Respiratory, cardiac, mixed medical cases
  • Titrating cardiac drips and telemetry required
  • Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on patient acuity and staffing
  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (high staffing ratio)
  • Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • No block scheduling
  • Return to Office (RTO) max 7 days
  • Work every other weekend
  • Floating required within the facility
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance results in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours)

Facility & Competency Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree related to specialty)
  • State license verification within 30 days of start (Georgia RN license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing required (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (3 attempts max)
  • Competency exam required for nursing staff
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start
  • TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no pending results allowed)
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating within facility required
  • No call requirements
  • Must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
