Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 10-hour day shift with variable start times
  • Deployment: RN may be deployed to other sites if needed
  • Specialty: ICU, ED, PACU, or procedural area with Interventional Radiology and Conscious Sedation experience

Requirements

  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • California RN license
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, no placeholders
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, no placeholders
    • IV skills required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in ICU, ED, PACU, or procedural area (including Interventional Radiology and Conscious Sedation)
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Circulate, ventilator management, charge nurse experience
  • Travel Experience:
    • Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
    • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
  • Certifications:
    • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication tests required on first day with multiple retake opportunities
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+) within 1 year prior to start
    • Unit-specific competency exam (passing score 80%+) within 12 months prior to start
    • Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams (passing score 80%+) within 1 year prior to start and updated annually
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work
    • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required; annual update)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted unless medically exempt)
    • Two negative TB tests required (one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
    • Immunizations or titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Standard 9-panel drug test (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccination requirements including booster doses or approved exemptions
  • References & Work History:
    • Two supervisory references required (most recent or second most recent employment)
    • Resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
    • Verification of 7 years of work history required (non-clinical roles may have different requirements)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit all required Return to Office (RTO) documents at time of offer; late submissions will not be considered
  • Various facility-specific documents and trainings must be reviewed and completed prior to or shortly after start (e.g., parking/uniform info, COVID-19 preparedness, HIPAA, cybersecurity awareness)
  • Pass/fail testing and learning modules must be completed before working on the floor
  • Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine require advance submission and approval
  • Fit testing may be completed onsite only as a last resort with prior appointment
  • Candidates may be required to complete annual TB questionnaires and other ongoing compliance documentation

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with critical care or procedural area expertise who are open to travel assignments and meet the comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
