Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Patient Population

  • Adolescents to Geriatrics

Unit and Work Setting

  • Mixed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Intermediate Care patients
  • Small neuro patient population
  • Respiratory, cardiac, mixed medical cases
  • Titrating cardiac drips required
  • Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on patient acuity and staffing
  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (high staffing ratio)
  • Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Scheduling and Work Conditions

  • No block scheduling
  • Return to Office (RTO) max 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU)
  • Competency Exam (required by agency for nursing)

Licensure and Verification

  • State License verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification required (degree verification can be pending at start with proof it is in process)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam required by agency (within 1 year of start)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start
  • TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations required or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable under certain conditions)
  • Flu vaccination or declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required by agency

Other Notes

  • Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and vary based on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours orientation)
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
