Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Community hospital experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First-timer OK)
- Equipment: Experience with GE equipment required
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- On-Call Requirement: Every third week
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Flu Vaccine: Mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted
Certifications Required
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others must be completed within 90 days of start
- Education verification required for all Radiology/Cardiology specialties (must have graduated from accredited programs)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Flu vaccine (seasonal, no exemptions)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers, no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
Additional Requirements
- Must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
- Competency exams and pass/fail testing required during orientation
- Compliance with facility-specific onboarding modules and competency checklists
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for an Echo Sonographer with at least 2 years of experience, preferably with community hospital experience and proficiency on GE equipment. The role requires weekend and on-call rotations, mandatory flu vaccination, and completion of extensive credentialing and compliance documentation. First-time travelers are welcome. Orientation is bi-weekly, and the contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
