Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Albany, Georgia
Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Job Description
- Position available for an RRT to work primarily in ICU and ER settings.
- Must be comfortable with intubating patients and managing high workloads.
- Responsible for airway management, ventilator management, bronchoscopy, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, and other respiratory therapy duties.
- Will function as Charge RT and Clinical Coordinator.
- No on-call required.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- RRT credential
- Georgia Respiratory Therapist license
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
- NRP certification required if assigned to NICU
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required for ICU assignments.
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract.
- Experience in a hospital with 300+ beds preferred.
- Must be confident in adult ICU care, ventilator management, and intubation.
Work Environment and Schedule
- Shifts start at 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM (with a 8-minute clock-in window).
- Weekend coverage is required on either Monday-Thursday or Friday-Sunday teams; holiday rotation every other holiday.
- No floating; unit-specific assignments.
- Orientation includes hospital/charting training and progressive workload ramp-up; ICU assignments include an additional week of orientation.
- Average workload: 13-15 patients per shift, approximately 550 treatment minutes per shift.
- Respiratory therapists handle up to 4 airways per shift in ICU.
Patient Population
- Adult ICU and ER patients primarily; pediatric and neonatal care if assigned to NICU.
- Common conditions: COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, cancers, etc.
Additional Information
- Must adhere to a strict 75-mile radius rule.
- EMR system used: Meditech.
- Ventilators used: Servo U and I models.
- Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house 24/7.
- Pharmacy available 24/7.
- Scrub color: Ceil blue (jacket also allowed in same color).
