Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (MS) Floor with Pediatric Beds

Position Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical floor with 8 Pediatric beds
• Patient Ratios:

  • Adults: 1:5
  • Pediatrics: 1:4
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical with Pediatric experience)
• Pediatric Experience: Pediatric experience is required
• First-time Travelers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
• On-call: Not required
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes, same base rate
• Pending License: Accepted
• Return to Office Restrictions: 1 request allowed
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Special Requirements:

  • Experience in both adult and pediatric medical surgical nursing required
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Licensure

• Maryland nursing license OR compact state license with proof of state residency (driver’s license must match compact license state)

Prior Travel Experience

• Prior travel experience is required (first-timers not accepted)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or Attestation
• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID (must match compact license state if applicable)
• Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
• Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
• Fingerprinting (Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI) required for school placements only
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask types preferred)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (True 2-Step PPD accepted)
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination, positive titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccine required (no declinations or exemptions accepted) for 2025-26 season
• Proof of 2 clinical references
• Skills checklist updated annually (as applicable)
• NURSYS verification as applicable
• NIH Stroke Certification required for all units except Pediatrics, OB, and L&D (must obtain AHA or APEX NIH certification within first week if not already held)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be experienced in both adult and pediatric medical surgical nursing.
• EPIC experience is mandatory.
• Weekend work every other weekend is required.
• No on-call or block scheduling accommodations.
• Locals accepted at same base rate.
• Pending licenses accepted.
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with a strong background in both adult and pediatric medical surgical nursing who have prior travel contract experience and meet the certification and licensure requirements.
