Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Nights)
Location: Saginaw, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including ongoing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patient responses. The RN functions as a team leader/member and resource, delegating and overseeing support staff. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential to establish patient goals and outcomes. The RN is responsible for meeting the needs of all types of patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician’s plan of care and evidence-based nursing practice (40%).
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, patient education, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, and other duties (30%).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and participate in updating/revising plans to improve patient care (20%).
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal regulations, and hospital policies related to patient care (10%).
Patient Ratio
- Target ratio: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) - Required
- Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience - Required
- Recent travel nursing work history - Highly preferred
Certifications & Licenses
- Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification) - Required
- American Heart Association BLS certification - Required
- American Heart Association ACLS certification - Required
- NIHSS Certification - Required
Additional Requirements
- Work history and skills checklist relevant to PCU, current within 1 year - Required
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years - Required
- Candidates within a 50-mile radius of the facility may be considered for contracts of 1-13 weeks only
- Scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application; no changes allowed after offer

- 268-bed full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care
- Level II trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Specialty care includes structural heart care, comprehensive stroke and spine care, cancer, orthopedics, and women’s health
- Offers advanced surgical care, robotic-assisted procedures, imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy, and rehabilitation services
Prior Travel Experience
- Recent travel nursing experience is highly preferred but not explicitly required
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with Neuro PCU background seeking a temporary assignment in a comprehensive care setting.
