Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Utilize independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for exams.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient medical history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies regularly.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually to obtain diagnostic images.
- May select and administer intravenous contrast media; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
- Perform imaging procedures following radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment and supplies; follow infection control practices.
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort during procedures.
- Complete all necessary documentation, logs, and patient records.
- Teach and educate new hires and students when needed.
- Manage image quality and delivery into PACS; complete study indexing in RIS.
- Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills consistently.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Work in hospital settings including fixed units, inpatient departments, OR, ER, or with mobile units.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients (with proper precautions).
- Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Must maintain required hours of continued education.
- Minimum Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume entry-level or registry eligibility acceptable.
Certifications & Licensure
- Must be registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). If registry-eligible, must obtain registry within 6 months of hire.
- Healthcare Provider certification required (Basic Cardiac Life Support - BCLS).
