Description

Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse

Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Unit Details

  • All ICU/IMCU units
  • Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to: Pneumonia, Sepsis, Renal issues, Pancreatitis, General surgeries (pre/post), Orthopedics, COPD, COVID-19, GI issues, and Sickle Cell Crisis

Schedule

  • Monday through Thursday
  • No weekends required
  • No on-call duties
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice

Contract Length

  • 12 weeks

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for critical care specialties
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., PALS, NRP) – refer to clinical track requirements

Clinical Screening

  • Candidates will undergo a clinical screening to determine fit and compliance with guidelines before final approval

Orientation & Compliance

  • Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
  • Orientation hours are proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment)
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum of 7 days if needed

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Documentation & Health Screenings

  • Valid State License verification (Georgia) within 30 days prior to start
  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (degree or equivalent) required; can be pending with proof of processing
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant acceptable under certain conditions)
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU, IMCU, Telemetry, ER, and related units (3 attempts allowed)
  • Color blind testing required for all candidates

Additional Notes

  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • Floating duties are within the facility and scope of practice
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of critical care experience who is open to travel assignments and floating within ICU/IMCU units. Prior travel experience is not required.
