Job Summary

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams and procedures efficiently according to physician orders. The role requires effective collaboration with patients, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete ultrasound studies timely and efficiently; assist others during downtime.
• Ensure exam charges and late lists are checked daily.
• Organize workload during high volume to expedite patient care and communicate pending exams to colleagues.
• Assist physicians with radiology procedures.
• Maintain positive relationships within the department and represent the department professionally.
• Manage supplies with minimum inventory and develop efficient supply utilization methods.
• Handle ultrasound equipment safely and maintain cleanliness according to policies.
• Respond to on-call duties promptly, arriving within 30 minutes when called in.
• Assist with procedures in other radiology areas as needed.
• Adhere to attendance, dress code, safety, and infection control policies.
• Participate in required hospital and department in-services and meetings.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Sonographer.
• Must have Echo and Vascular experience.
• Ability to perform Echocardiograms with Definity Contrast.
• Proficient in performing Echo and Vascular studies including:

  • TTE Echocardiograms
  • TEE
  • Stress echo
  • Venous reflux exams
  • Venous dopplers
  • Carotid doppler
  • Arterial doppler
  • ABI
  • Pericardiocentesis
  • Thrombin injections
  • Vein mapping exams
• Able to start own IV.
• Experience with MediTech EMR system.

Certifications & Requirements

• Active ARDMS Certification (required).
• Active American Heart Association BLS Certification (required).
• Must provide 2 supervisory references from the last 2 years.
• Candidates must reside outside a 90-mile radius of Batesville (local candidates will not be considered).

Work Environment & Equipment

• Use of Philips CVX Epiq and Philips Ellite Epiq ultrasound machines, and Vasculab ABI machine.
• EMR system: MediTech.
• PACS system: Philips Epiq.
• Dress code: Traveler-provided matching scrubs.

Prior Travel Experience
