Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours, nights
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Start Date: March 3, 2026
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
• Unit Details:

  • 26-bed unit specializing in post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
  • 36-bed Hematology/Oncology unit with a developing Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program
  • Opportunity to cross-train in the Medical ICU (MICU)
• Facility Type: Tertiary Care Hospital with 528 staffed beds
• Charting System: Must be proficient in EPIC

Requirements

• Licensure: Must have a New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Certifications:

  • Chemotherapy Certification required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• Experience:

  • No explicit years of experience stated; first-time travelers accepted
  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 75 miles from the facility)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Additional Qualifications & Competencies

• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high acuity environment
• Must be able to manage a patient load consistent with MedSurg/Telemetry standards

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:

• Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Fit Mask test (annual)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug Screening (within 30 days of start)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or signed declination (for 2025-26 season)
• Eye Exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Work history verification required (at least 2 past employments)
• References required for Aya candidates only (2 references within 3 years)

Uniform & Appearance

• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Photo for badge: Clear, passport-style with solid background required

Notes

• Candidates must be able to work nights and every other weekend
• This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 75 miles radius are not eligible

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity tertiary care setting with specialized cardiac and oncology patient populations, including exposure to a developing Bone Marrow Transplant program and cross-training in the MICU.
