Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers not accepted)
  • Prior travel experience is required (HARD STOP)

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Work Setting

  • Overflow IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
  • Arrhythmia management, Cardioversion
  • Cardiac conditions: CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT
  • Cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia)
  • Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
  • Occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR Bands
  • DKA management
  • Occasional ortho or CVA patient overflow (transferred ASAP)
  • Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring post PCI required
  • Med/Surg umbrella skills including basic arrhythmia knowledge
  • Cardiac drip medications: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix

Unit Details

  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • Unit size: 32 beds
  • Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: Rare, 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Required Documentation & Health Requirements

  • Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Background Check (within 30 days of start, must be complete prior to start)
  • Education Verification (degree verification required; can be pending with proof)
  • State License verification (Georgia RN license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with TB questionnaire updated annually)
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)

Competency Exams & Additional Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required)
  • Color Blind Testing (required)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units; max 3 attempts allowed)
  • Competency Exam for Nursing (required)
  • Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

References & Work History

  • Two clinical references required
  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable managing complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced intermediate care setting.
