Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
• Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Floating: Will float to all 3 ICUs and Emergency Departments for holds

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 18 months recent Critical Care/ICU experience
• Must have 18 months of permanent ICU experience prior to travel
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license

Certifications Required

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Other certifications preferred but not required:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

References

• One recent reference required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty area (Charge RN references accepted)

Licensing & Background Checks

• Permanent Ohio license or compact state license required
• Background check required prior to start and must be updated annually
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
• Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if completed prior to start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually
• Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers required
• Hepatitis B vaccination or titer required
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail EKG and medication testing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts)
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Skills checklist required annually

Summary

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in the MICU with night shifts in Cleveland, Ohio. Candidates must have at least 18 months of recent and permanent ICU experience, hold a valid Ohio or compact nursing license, and meet extensive certification, health, and background check requirements. Completion of facility-specific onboarding and competency testing is mandatory before starting the assignment.
