Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with a specialty in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics for a travel contract position. First-time travelers are accepted.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty
  • CRT candidates must have critical care skills/experience plus 5+ years as a therapist
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or minimum CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician)
  • CRT candidates must meet additional experience requirements as noted above

Required Skills and Competencies

  • ABG Interpretation
  • CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP
  • Flow-by oxygen delivery
  • Troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Trach collar management
  • High flow nasal cannula
  • Airway management

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Electronic Medical Record system: Epic (required)
  • Pyxis medication system
  • Scrub color: Pewter gray
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and possibly to an additional nearby campus (3 miles away)
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance results in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Documentation and Health Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (photo ID required)
  • Background check completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • Diplomas required for RRTs
  • Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof)
  • State license verification (must be licensed in Georgia)
  • Annual NURSYS verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP if applicable)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by client but required by agency)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific requirements if history of positive TB)
  • TB questionnaire updated annually (required for all candidates)
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
  • Color blind testing required
  • Competency exams including medication test/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (specific to certain units)

References and Verification

  • Two clinical references required (agency requirement)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)

Additional Notes

  • Floating may include working at a nearby campus within scope of practice
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
