Requirements
- Years of Experience: 18 months (1.5 years) in Medical-Surgical (MS) nursing
- Licensure: Georgia or Compact nursing license required (must have license in hand)
- Certifications:
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Skills:
- IV insertion and PICC line management
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Telemetry interpretation skills
- Procedures performed on unit:
- Lumbar punctures
- Thoracentesis
- Nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding and nasojejunal feeding tube (NFT) insertion
Common Diagnoses/Procedures on Unit
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
- Sepsis
- Pneumonia (PNA)
- Gastrointestinal Bleeding (GIB)
- Altered Mental Status (AMS)
- Hypertension (HTN)
- Renal Failure
- Heart Failure
