Job Opportunity: Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
- Work schedule: 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system
- Ambulatory care role including phone triage, rooming, and urgent referral review
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- California RN License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ICU, Med/Surg, or Emergency Room
- Minimum 1 year of ambulatory care experience, including phone triage, rooming, and urgent referral review
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ambulatory otolaryngology, including head and neck conditions and tracheostomy care
- Experience performing blood draws for PRP and assisting with procedures
- Experience with Epic "In-Basket" program
Certifications & Competencies Required
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) for applicable units
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80% or higher)
- Unit-specific Competency Exam (passing score 80% or higher)
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams (passing score 80% or higher)
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication exams on first day of orientation
Experience Requirements
- Specialty experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU, Med/Surg, or ER
- Ambulatory care experience: Minimum 1 year
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Background and Health Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
- Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB tests (2 required, with specific timing and documentation)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster requirements or approved exemptions
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references from most recent or second most recent employment
- Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
- Background checks and verifications must be completed within 30 days of start
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules and orientation requirements before starting work
- Compliance with facility policies including COVID-19 preparedness, HIPAA, and cybersecurity training
Work Environment
- Ambulatory care setting within a large health system
- Ability to float to other facilities as needed
- Day shift, Monday through Friday schedule
