Occupational Therapist (OT) - Travel Contract

Location: Merced, California
Specialty: Occupational Therapy


Job Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Active California OT License
    • BLS Certification

Work Environment & Patient Population

  • Hospital with 189 beds (ICU, telemetry, medical, surgical, mother and baby units)
  • Average hospital census: 150 patients
  • Patient types: Inpatient adult and geriatric populations with orthopedic, neurological, medical, and pulmonary complications
  • Outpatient services include pediatrics to geriatrics with a strong focus on hand therapy
  • Speech Therapy pediatrics is a significant component
  • JCAHO certification for Stroke, Early mobility programs, vent early mobility level 2

Schedule & Shifts

  • Standard shifts: 8 hours
  • PT travelers may have 10-hour shifts; OT and ST typically 8 hours
  • Weekend coverage: No weekend requirement for OT and ST
  • Holidays: None required
  • Typical workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 7am-6pm with 1-hour lunch
  • Floating between inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings

Additional Information

  • EMR system: Cerner B (upgraded version)
  • Therapy team includes inpatient and outpatient therapists, PTAs, COTAs, and therapy aides
  • Hospital has 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services
  • Orientation includes general department overview with skills checklist and assigned clinician
  • Scrub color: Burgundy polo or long sleeve shirt, black pants, and shoes
  • Hospitalists, residents, and telemedicine intensivists available in ICU
  • Floating duties may include inpatient and outpatient OT, ST (primarily outpatient with geriatric and pediatric experience), and PT support
