Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Step Down / PCU)
Location: Lynchburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel / Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: PCU/Step Down Registered Nurse
- Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
- Floating: May float to Intermediate and MedSurg units; travelers float first as needed
- Radius Rule: 60 mile radius
- Orientation: Biweekly orientation on Mondays
- Scrubs: Any color, professional appearance; child-friendly print tops allowed; scrub/lab coat allowed
- Campus: Nicotine-free
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in the unit specialty (Step Down/PCU)
- Preferred 2-3 years minimum overall nursing experience
- Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers NOT accepted)
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have or be eligible for RN licensure (pending certifications considered)
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Candidate profile including work history
- Specialty-specific skills checklist
- Minimum 2 manager/charge references within past 2 years
- RN license verification (NURSYS verification within 2 days of submission)
- Copies of all required certifications
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification as applicable
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (instant drug screen permitted; marijuana not required)
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Color blind testing (Ishihara)
- Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and blood draw consent
