Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lynchburg, Virginia
Specialty: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (MS RN)

Job Details

Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (19:00 - 17:00)
Oncology experience preferred but not required
2 years Medical Surgical experience required (highest stated requirement)
First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Biweekly orientation on Mondays
60 mile radius rule applies
Scrubs: Any color, professional appearance; child-friendly print tops allowed; scrub/lab coat allowed
Nicotine-free campus

Licensure & Certifications

Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Licensure: Candidates with pending certifications will be considered

Required Documentation & Compliance

Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
Background checks including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3 (updated annually)
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
Education verification (MS RN diploma)
NURSYS license verification within 2 days of submission
Physical exam within 6 months of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (instant drug screen permitted; marijuana not required)
Flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement)

Additional Certifications (As Applicable)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
NIH Stroke Certification
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - course available onsite after start

Competencies

Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
Color Blind Testing (Ishihara)
Competency Exam (as applicable)

References & Skills

Minimum 2 professional manager/charge references within past 2 years
Specialty-specific skills checklist required

Notes

Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required (updated annually)
Facility-specific onboarding and consent forms must be completed
Prior travel experience is NOT required for this position
