Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour evening shifts (2:30pm - 11:00pm), Monday-Friday, every other weekend
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Required skills: Fluoroscopy and OR experience
- Epic experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred (not strictly required)
Licenses & Certifications Required
- Virginia State License required
- ARRT certification required
- ACLS (AHA) as applicable
- BLS (AHA) required for Vascular Techs
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- Primary source verification of state license required
Experience Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Radiology / Cardiology specialty (use higher end if discrepancy)
- Prior travel experience preferred but not mandatory
Background & Compliance
- Zero tolerance for any license or background hits
- 7-year criminal background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Fingerprinting required (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check) effective 1/1/2026, to be completed within first week of contract
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for some units, preferred for others (within past 10 years)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or Tspot) within 1 year, annual testing required
- Required immunizations or titers within 10 years for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella (or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (or approved exemption with mask requirement)
- COVID vaccine preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 professional references
- Completed employment application/resume
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication competency required for all RNs (not applicable for this role but may be relevant for others)
- Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, plain background) required before start
- Various facility-specific acknowledgments and forms required
Summary
This is a travel contract position for an experienced X-Ray Tech with a focus on Radiology and Cardiology. The role requires evening shifts with every other weekend coverage. Candidates must hold a valid Virginia state license and ARRT certification, have 2-5 years of specialty experience, and have fluoro and OR experience. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Strict background and health compliance policies are enforced, including fingerprinting and immunization requirements.
