Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, every other weekend
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Required Experience: 5 years (highest requirement between 2-5 years stated)
- Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (not strictly required)
- Required Skills:
- Fluoroscopy and OR experience
- Epic system experience
Licensure & Certifications
- Virginia State License required
- ARRT certification required
- ACLS (AHA) as applicable
- BLS (AHA) required for Vascular Techs
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- Primary source verification of state license required
Background & Compliance
- Zero tolerance for any license or background hits
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- National fingerprinting required (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check) starting 1/1/2026
- E-Verify required for direct placements
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask required annually (PAPR not allowed)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or T-spot) within 1 year, annual testing required
- Immunizations or titers required within 10 years for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella (or declination, depending on unit)
- TDAP vaccine required for certain units (Mother Baby, L&D, Nursery, ER), preferred for others
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (or approved exemption with mask requirement)
- COVID vaccine preferred but not required
Documentation & Competencies
- Proof of 2 professional references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
- Pass/fail EKG/medication competency testing required for all RNs (may apply depending on role)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blindness testing with 100% passing score required
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Candidate must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Passport-style photo required for badge before start
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required (e.g., Pyxis acknowledgment for RNs)
- Fingerprinting must be completed within the first week of contract start to avoid delays
This position offers an opportunity to work in a coastal Virginia location with access to outdoor activities and waterways. The facility maintains strict compliance and credentialing standards to ensure quality and safety.
