Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
- Start Dates: 3/9 or 3/23
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
- On-Call Requirement: Not applicable
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in NICU, pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and emergency department (ED)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Skills:
- Level IV NICU experience (hard stop requirement)
- Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and oscillating ventilator
- Experience with pediatric cardiac anomalies
- Licensure:
- Current North Carolina Registered Respiratory Therapist (NC RRT) license required (processing takes 2-4 weeks)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers are welcome)
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others as applicable
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations/vaccines including Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
- References: Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Duke Guest Account: Must be set up prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
