Description

Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery RN

Location: Santa Cruz, California
Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Unit: Labor & Delivery (8-10 rooms)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:3
  • Typical Patient Types: High risk pregnancies, PIH, preeclampsia, addiction, preterm labor, magnesium sulfate treatment
  • Additional Unit Info:
    • Level 3 NICU on site
    • Locked unit
    • Baby friendly with lactation consultants on staff
    • Approximately 65-75 deliveries per month
    • Nurse aides are OB techs who scrub and assist
    • Floating to Mother-Baby unit as needed
    • Floor-specific orientation (3 shifts on unit)
    • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
    • Holiday work included in core rotation

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in Labor & Delivery nursing
  • Active California RN license
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Advanced AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (with certification)

Additional Information

  • EMR systems used: Cerner and Fetal Link
  • Charge nurse role available (does not take patients)
  • Central fetal heart monitoring and telemetry available
  • IV team available during the day
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
  • Scrub color provided by hospital (ceil blue)
