Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Monroe, Washington
Contract Length: 10 weeks

Job Description

• Travel nurse needed immediately for an ER position in a level IV trauma center serving a rural area.
• The ER has 2 trauma rooms and 11 exam rooms (4 fast track).
• Patient population includes standard ER cases, prison patients, psych patients, deliveries in ER (with transfer), and short-term psych holds (usually less than 24 hours).
• Nurses may float across the Emergency Department and inpatient units as needed.
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours (3-12s), every other weekend (EOW).
• Typical shift hours: 36 hours per week.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
• Orientation: 2-3 shifts floor-specific orientation.
• Telemetry skills required (ability to read and interpret strips).
• Ventilator experience required (prior to transport to ICU).
• Hospitalist or intensivist coverage: 1 ER physician 24/7, PA coverage starting at 2pm, hospitalist coverage until 5pm.
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7.
• Pharmacy open 6am-10pm, with after-hours coverage via contract.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Washington state.
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience (higher of 2 years vs. 3 years noted in older notes).
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Ability to float between ED and inpatient units as needed.

Additional Information

• This is a night shift position starting 7/21.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required.
• Weekend and holiday work required as part of staff rotation.
• Scrubs are provided.
• The ER uses CareView EMR.

Summary
