Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Unit

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in telemetry or related specialty. First-time travelers are accepted.


Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Environment

  • Telemetry unit
  • Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • 16 rooms
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (see below)
  • Major holidays include: Spring Break (April 4-12), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (refer to unit description for requirement)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years specialty experience (highest requirement)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)

Required Documentation & Health Screenings

  • Valid State License (Georgia)
  • Background check (within 30 days of start)
  • Education verification (degree related to specialty)
  • Physical exam (within 12 months)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 12 months) and TB questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or declination (required for flu season)
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist and work history verification (updated annually or within 30 days post start if pending)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
  • General competency exam

Additional Notes

  • Floating within facility as needed
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
